ABOUT TAKETINA
Developed in the early 1970s by musician and composer Reinhard Flatischler, TaKeTiNa is a process of personal, musical, and human development that uses rhythm as a tool for introspection as well as for connecting with the outside world.
It is a dynamic meditation based on our auditory, visual, and kinesthetic perceptions… in motion! A conscious walk in nature… of our rhythmic being.
TaKeTiNa is not tied to any particular culture but explores the universal components of rhythm that allow us to find our way in all the world’s music.
TaKeTiNa engages the feet, hands, and voice to develop our ability to simultaneously perceive different, intersecting rhythms (polyrhythms) and, more generally, all forms of polarity that the practice highlights (individual and collective, receptivity and expression, order and chaos…). In this way, TaKeTiNa fosters the creation of an inner sense of unity, transcending oppositions.
Just as flourishing nature leads the walker from one landscape to another, TaKeTiNa offers a nurturing framework that invites you to be carried by the rhythm rather than chasing after it.
An invitation to follow your own learning pace, to lose yourself in the rhythm as part of the process, to use your attention differently for more body awareness, more confidence, more laughter, more empathy, more life!
Bio BAPTISTE VAES
Musician, performer, teacher of rhythm and polyphony for dancers and actors at the Conservatory of Mons, Baptiste Vaes has been directing choirs for around thirty years, dedicated to traditional songs and vocal improvisation. He performs regularly on stage as a singer, improviser and choir leader. Baptiste studied free improvisation in the class of Garett List at the Conservatory of Liège and trained in Sound and Music Healing with Pat Muffit Cook before he discovered the restructuring and regenerating power of the TaKeTiNa rhythmic process and trained himself in Australia with the founder Reinhard Flatischler and Master teacher Tania Bosak. He has been facilitating this practice since March 2013 and completed the certification as a Senior TaKeTiNa Teacher in November 2024.
